ZThinCable USB provides charge power to the Zaurus

ZThinCable RS-232 provides a superior serial cable solution to the Sharp CE-170TS cable. The Sharp CE-170TS cable does not allow access to the keypad, or power connector of the SL-6000/5600/5500 when the cable is attached. ZThinCable allows the SL-5600/5500 keypad cover to be fully open allowing complete access to the keypad and power connector, with the serial cable connected.

ZThinCableTM also provides the gender your looking for when you want to attach peripherals to your Zaurus. ZThinCable provides DB-9 male and DB-9 female connector options allowing you to plug directly into your modem, GPS, sensor, or other RS-232 serial device. This eliminates the need for null modem cables, gender changers and other 'plumbing' that is required for using the Sharp CE-170TS with devices such as modems, GPS receivers, and Cisco equipment.

ZThinCable works great with Intellisync software. ZThinCable is hands down the best Zaurus serial cable.

Use ZThinCable and Dialup Manager with your mobile phone for Internet access anywhere (requires internet connectivity service from your mobile phone supplier)

Use ZThinCable and JeTermZ to easily and quickly communicate with serial devices.

Use ZThinCable and SerialMagic Scanner Edition for Zaurus to painlessly use barcode scanners with Zaurus.

3The SL-6000 requires ZThinCable to be removed during opening & closing of the keypad cover. ZThinCable was custom designed to provide a unique advantage based on this. When ZThinCable is properly installed on the SL-6000 it will prevent the keypad cover from being closed unexpectedly. Seasoned SL-5x00 users will immediately recognize the value of this feature.

Which gender is right for my application?

SL-5500 user notes. Early versions of ZThinCable had locking tabs that provided an extra snug fit in the SL-5500. Because all new Zaurus models since the SL-5500 no longer support locking fingers, ZThinCable models with locking fingers are no longer manufactured.

Compare the features of the Serialio.com ZThinCable RS-232 to the Sharp CE-170TS.

SL-6000 Note. Why not use a USB-RS232 adaptor on the USB OTG connector? The reason is power.
A typical USB-RS232 adaptor will use up to 800-48,000 times the power required by ZThinCable (and no, that's not a typo). What does this mean in practicle terms? When a USB-RS232 adaptor is used with the SL-6000, battery life is drastically reduced. Another good reason is the initial release of the SL-6000 does not have driver support for USB-RS232 adaptors.
