Catalog books and other items with SerialMagic and other software
SerialMagic allows you to interface with many other types of programs allowing you to easily catalog and track your stuff.
We are a relatively small bookstore in a French Canadian environment where we sell on site and we go to shows where we needed flexible barcode scanning to easily establish the prices when a crowd is hanging around. Also we wanted to accelerate the inventoring process. As our inventory system is based on Linux and PostgresSQL the scanner and the software should support this environment. For flexibilty we needed of course Bluetooth. We found the LaserMagic Bluetooth scanner which met these requirements. The price was right and the hardware and software work to full satisfaction.

I am also considering expanding this to include videotapes, which are checked out to our various schools on a daily basis. I'm a voracious reader and have a sizable home library. A few years ago I ran across a program called ReaderWare. I bought a copy and at the time I purchased it, it included a CueCat barcode scanner. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of being tethered to a laptop all the time. So I found a link on the ReaderWare site to Serialio.com, recommending your LaserMagic scanner bundles. I've been extremely pleased with the LaserMagic bundle I purchased, and intend on using it more with the CD and DVD modules of ReaderWare. - Peter Benson

I really love my Serialio LaserChamp Scanner and SerialMagic Professional Software; I use them with Readerware. This system is fantastic! I'm building a website for selling used books online. Before I purchased the scanner, I would locate used books and buy the ones I felt would be good sellers without really having any idea of its actual current value. Now with my LaserChamp scanner, I can scan book barcodes into my Readerware software to learn the value of each book before I buy any books. I now can be very selective in the books I buy and only purchase the most valuable books. This really saves me a lot of time and MONEY! I no longer end up buying worthless books! I use this system to keep track of books in my home library that I have read or not read, when they were published and other information that is of interest to me. Initially, I ran into some problems but with the help of your technical staff I was able get through it. I have a rather sizable library, containing hundreds of books. A few days prior to ordering the LaserChamp and SerialMagic, I discovered a bit of software called Readerware, which looks up ISBNs on various Internet sites and catalogs personal libraries in a very detailed database. The ability of the LaserChamp to store up to 500 ISBNs and then import them into the Readerware program in a batch process is a particularly welcome feature. There's no need for me to carry the laptop, the cables, and the scanner with me from place to place as I collect the ISBNs. I purchased the LaserMagic Tethered USB bundle for Windows to use with the program suite from Readerware. I have a collection of approximately 1600 books, 400 CDs and 250 DVDs. Cataloguing can be tedious without a scanner! I like being able to go to the shelf, use the LaserChamp untethered and then just connect it to upload the barcode data.
